Social Anxiety Group Therapy

Social anxiety can be overwhelming, affecting your daily life from school and work to personal relationships. It is a type of mental health disorder that is marked by an intense fear of being judged or embarrassed in social situations. Common symptoms of social anxiety include:

  • Excessive worry or fear of being judged or criticized

  • Avoidance of social situations

  • Sweating, trembling, or a racing heart in social situations

This may lead those with social anxiety to avoid social events and have difficulty forming relationships.

What Is Social Anxiety Group Therapy?

Social anxiety group therapy is a type of psychotherapy that involves one or more therapists working to support a small group of individuals to overcome their social anxiety issues. In this setting, the therapist will guide the group to share their thoughts, feelings and experiences in a safe and supportive environment. This allows individuals in the group to foster a sense of community and connection.

With group therapy, individuals will also be able to gain strategies to cope with anxiety, build confidence and learn from other’s experiences.
